The Origin of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy. Since the earliest of times, man has used essential oils for various purposes. The origin of Aromatherapy is usually attributed to the ancient Egyptians, back to the Kingdom of Sheba. From Sheba came the three wise men bearing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Over the decades the use of essential oils grew so popular that trade routes were established just to distribute them. However, essential oils became rather neglected until the early 1900's, when a french chemist name Rene-Maurice Gattefosse' began studying them. After burning his hand in an explosion in his lab, Gattefosse ran and plunged his hand into a vat of lavender oil which was nearby. It is reported that the pain went away immediately, and he recovered so quickly that he decided to study the essential oils. Gattefosse later called the practice of using essential oils, "Aromatherapy". Come join us to find out more about Essential Oils and Aromatherapy.
